To me S5 was a great seasons. They just killed to many off. Which didn't leave anything much hanging on to Jack. A Great season and yet a Poor one.
Whats you opinion.

This was my second favourite season, chucks you right into the action, and you never really get back out of it until the final minute!

obviously she doesn't like it, sam! tony 'died'. they did kill off too many. michelle and david in the same episode, it was too much.

They never proved Tony died. Actually Michelle could still be alive as well. There was no shock and awe for me. It was the Charles and Martha pony show (it would of been worse if not for the excellent acting of Jean Smart. So much of it didn't make sense. And was totally unrealistic.

I enjoyed the season. For me, until Season 6, it had been the best so far!

Season 5 was what got me hooked. But, I do agree with the thread title. They killed them for the dramatic effect of killing. It was just too much. Just like when they torture for dramatic effect, it gets too much. But I defy anyone to write such complex stories and not fall into the trap of doing too much anything...
